Born and raised in Germany, Kensaku Hopf is a Berlin-based, self-taught photographer. Photography has become a way of slowing down and navigating the complexity of everyday life. Drawn to the relationship between people and the spaces they inhabit, he explores everyday encounters, traces of human presence, and the subtle details of urban life, searching for moments of beauty hidden within the ordinary.
Before turning to photography, he spent many years skateboarding on a professional level, which led him into different cultural contexts and shaped his way of observing the world.
He works primarily with analog photography and develops and processes his own films.
